In the summer of 1991, I married a wonderful girl named LaDawn. Although she was originally from Amarillo Texas, I met her in Lakewood Colorado in 1989. After being constantly exposed to Amateur radio, she was determined to get her ticket. In the summer of 1993, she earned her Technician class license and received the call sign KBØOOY.
Once we settled here in Florida, she updated her license and took the call KG4HBE. She only works 2 meters either from her car, here at the house or on her HT. She really enjoys meeting and talking to all the local hams in the area.
A few years ago, LaDawn wanted to change her call sign to reflect her family roots. She applied for a vanity call and was assigned the new call sign of WA5AMA. Although she usually stays on one of the local simplex channels, she will, at times, jump on the Club repeater and chat with some of the other Hams in the area.
